EMPOWERING AT-RISK FAMILIES TO BECOME SUCCESSFUL

We’re committed to helping families facing poverty obtain access to housing, healthy, affordable food and healthcare, employment and a quality education. For more than 90 years we have worked with leading health and human service providers across our region and have identified the most effective strategies to improve the most lives.

OUR WORK

HOUSING

Families are the fastest growing homeless group. We use a nationally recognized model to prevent family homelessness in targeted neighborhoods and rapidly rehouse others who have already become homeless. Case managers work with families individually to build financial security and self-sufficiency.

HEALTH

In our fourth year of the Access to Healthy Food Initiative, we are improving the quantity and quality of meals provided. Moving forward we also will be taking a closer look at the needs and gaps in our communities to address broader health issues.

EDUCATION

United Way programs are keeping children facing homelessness in their homes and schools, as well as helping teen parents to graduate.

2-1-1 MARYLAND UNITED WAY HELPLINE

The 2-1-1 Maryland United Way Helpline helps provide individuals and families one easy-to-remember phone number for help with housing, food, healthcare, utility assistance resources and more.

PROJECT HOMELESS CONNECT

United Way of Central Maryland is a lead organizer of Project Homeless Connect, an annual resource fair that provides comprehensive services including housing, food, health care, dental, employment, legal and hygiene services for local people facing homelessness.
