Harvest of Plenty 2012 – Giving Thanksgiving
Imagine Thanksgiving without the one thing that is certain to bring family together – the food.
Thanksgiving is an iconic American holiday which means different things to each of us. However hokey, quirky or crazy, Thanksgiving meals are family memories, and for people with otherwise little food, such gatherings can be especially meaningful. That's why United Way of Central Maryland (UWCM)'s Harvest of Plenty is supplying families in need in our community with the materials to create a special Thanksgiving dinner.
More than 300,000 central Marylanders are food insecure and may have to go without this special holiday meal. Last year, UWCM provided Thanksgiving meals for over 2,500 families in need. This year, we are asking for your help to bring Thanksgiving to 3,000 families.
Donating just $12 will help feed a family of a six a full meal with all the healthy trimmings.
