1.5 million pounds of healthy food. 1 big question: Will you help us get there?
Did you know that more than 300,000 central Marylanders don't have the food they need? Thousands of those same people have limited to no access to a grocery store. Our Access to Healthy Food Initiative aims to change that by annually making 1.5 million pounds of healthy food easier to access for central Marylanders in need.
Molly Shattuck, a 20-year supporter of UWCM and founder of Molly Shattuck Vibrant Living, brings her passion for a healthy lifestyle, family and volunteerism to the Access to Healthy Food Initiative, serving as our Healthy Food Ambassador. In this role, Molly is creating awareness around the issue of food insecurity across central Maryland by speaking to businesses and other organizations about the importance of the Healthy Food Initiative, leading educational volunteer events (like healthy food drives and gleaning events at local farms), as well as playing a major role in fundraising.
