Volunteer with the Access to Healthy Food Initiative

1.5 million pounds of healthy food. Help us reach our goal.
More than 300,000 central Marylanders don’t have access to healthy food. Our Access to Healthy Food Initiative aims to change that by annually making 1.5 million pounds of healthy food easier to access for central Marylanders in need.

Volunteer with us at these upcoming opportunities:

1. Organize a Healthy Food Drive

2. Volunteer with UWCM
Make “Stone Soup” at Our Daily Bread with Families Living United.

3. Get involved with one of our partners
-Harvest with First Fruits Farm: Call Rick Bernstein at 410.218.8289
-Glean with Mid-Atlantic Gleaning Network (MAGNET): Call Terri Davis at 443.835.3142

4. Be part of UWCM's Spring Days of Action benefiting the Access to Healthy Food Initiative

Gleaning is the gathering of crops after the commercial harvest. UWCM's gleaning volunteer events--Harvest Helpers--collect produce to donate to food banks, pantries and nonprofit agencies across the region.
