When you volunteer with United Way, you become a powerful force in changing the odds for families and communities in central Maryland. United, we can do more.

United Way offers lots of great service projects to get involved in and volunteer – and there’s something for everyone: whether it’s teens & youth seeking community service hours, families looking for a food drive or ways to feed the hungry, workplaces hoping to get involved in your community, or one of the many other reasons to volunteer.

We’re currently highlighting summer volunteering, so check the volunteer sign-ups below to help us make a difference for families and Maryland communities all year long.

Help children in high-need areas start the school year right and stay on track for a brighter future. As part of our education programs, we’re dedicating our summer to student and school-related events and opportunities. Choose one or more that are right for you!

Support Student Success

Every 26 seconds, a student in the U.S. drops out of school. That’s about 7,000 each day and 1.2 million a year. These are not just numbers. These are children who need our help. United Way’s education programs helps struggling young students in impoverished neighborhoods succeed and stay in school. Your gift can make the difference of a lifetime for children facing the risk of dropping out of school.
