Job Description
This position is critical to the successful implementation of electronic campaign pledging and is responsible for creating customized web-based pledging sites for 25-40 company fund raising campaigns, loading the appropriate data and custom variables, managing the site, electronic communications, customer support and working with a third party processor to export and load data into United Way’s backend processing system.

AA degree (Bachelor preferred) with at least 2 years experience working with an electronic pledging system or in a related field. Experience with direct external customer interaction and ability to apply analytical skills and creative problem solving to situations with successful solutions. Must possess excellent organizational and time management skills and meet established deadlines. Be able to work under pressure and keep all work current and accurate.

Director, Marketing & Communications Description
If you’re an experienced marketing and communications professional who believes central Maryland can be a better place, United Way of Central Maryland has a unique and exciting challenge for you. As director, you’ll oversee all United Way of Central Maryland’s (UWCM’s) media outreach efforts and you’ll be responsible for directing the creative process and developing strategies for integrating UWCM’s print, broadcast and electronic communications efforts. You will be the chief copywriter for all the organization’s many marketing, sales and donor materials. You’ll report to the senior vice president of marketing, planning and governance and you will supervise the assistant director, e-marketing , graphic design administrator and part-time web development specialist. You’ll write speeches, news releases, briefings, fact sheets, talking points and many other important pieces for the press, the public, the board of directors and other key audiences. Then you’ll write brochures, items for web sites, annual reports and other key marketing materials to tell the organization’s rich story. As a key part of the best nonprofit marketing team in Baltimore, you’ll listen to the needs of colleagues in both the fundraising and impact strategies divisions at United Way to determine the best way to meet their many needs in the most efficient and cost-effective methods. Working closely with the senior management team, you’ll manage the day-to-day function of media and public relations of one of the nation’s most trusted nonprofit brands. Description Working here at United Way of Central Maryland, you will become a part of the bridge that links people with health and human services across Maryland. 2-1-1 Maryland connects callers to specialists trained to help find solutions. Become a part of the 2-1-1 network of specialists by joining the information and referral team with United Way of Central Maryland's First Call for Help. You will be actively engaged and involved in using a comprehensive database of up-to-the minute local, state and national resources to cut through the confusion and connect callers to the services they need. 2-1-1 Maryland is a confidential connection to critical information on basic needs such as shelter, utilities, physical and mental health, ,support for children, youth and families, volunteer opportunities and needed donations to name a few. You will also be instrumental in tracking call trends to help identify needs or gaps in service and providing a more accurate picture of local needs. You will interview callers, assist with problem solving and assess service needs by applying your active listening skills; utilize the comprehensive database to identify appropriate resources and provide information on eligibility requirements and service availability; recognize and respond appropriately to persons in crisis and maintain accurate records on each contact with clients. You will also serve as a spokesperson on community needs and human service issues to community groups, agencies and other organizations. Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services or related field with at least one year of experience in a human service organization. Have knowledge of the human service delivery system and be able to communicate effectively both in writing and orally. Be able to effectively interview service providers, problem solve and possess excellent computer skills in Microsoft Word and use the computer to research resources (a computer assessment on Microsoft Word will be given to candidates).
