Virtual Bridal shower for ABC2NEWS ANCHOR Megan Pringle will help CHRONICALLY HOMELESS WOMEN

Baltimore, MD (July 21, 2009) – Early next month, ABC2NEWS will host a virtual bridal shower for Good Morning Maryland anchor Megan Pringle, Megan’s Shower of Hope. All items will be donated to disabled homeless women in Baltimore County who will finally be moving into new homes.

Megan’s Shower of Hope will support the “My Place Project,” a collaboration between Baltimore County government, United Way of Central Maryland and the YWCA of Greater Baltimore, which is designed to help 13 chronically homeless women outfit apartments for a new permanent supportive housing program the YWCA and Baltimore County are building in Arbutus.

Committed to working for the community in as many ways as possible ABC2, WMAR-TV is encouraging viewers who are interested in celebrating Megan Pringle’s upcoming wedding to sports anchor Rob Carlin to take advantage of the couple’s Target registry to purchase items specifically for these women.

“We are touched by the number of viewers who want to be a part of our special day,” said Pringle. “And we’re even more thrilled that we’re able to continue ABC2’s longstanding commitment to working for the community by donating these items to the YWCA and these amazing women.”

The Arbutus Permanent Supportive Housing Program, a green project, is designed to help these women renew their lives, develop and achieve goals and care for the environment and their community. Environmentally friendly gifts are encouraged.

Viewers will be able to access the Target registry of Pringle and Carlin through August 4. From July 31- August 4, gifts may be dropped off at ABC2 WMAR, TV or around the region or mailed directly to the YWCA.
