Congratulations to Bank of America, Wells Fargo, AT&T, Target, PNC, Morgan Stanley, CitiGroup, Walmart, Microsoft and Coca-Cola, all United Way of Central Maryland’s partners and recently highlighted in a prestigious list as some of the most generous companies in America.
With help from The Chronicle of Philanthropy, Fortune released a list of the top 20 most generous companies in the Fortune 500, as measured by cash contributions. In 2015, these 20 companies donated $3.5 billion in cash.
Many of these outstanding companies share United Way of Central Maryland goals to change the odds for families and communities by stabilizing individuals through education, housing, employment and health. For Wells Fargo, this often means financial education. For AT&T, it’s reducing high school dropout rates. Target’s new focus is health and wellness. Bank of America has zeroed in on basic needs and economic mobility. All of these companies and their employees play an important role in improving our communities through workplace campaigns, grants, volunteering and other efforts.
Thank you to all the incredibly generous companies who made Fortune’s list, along with top companies such as Johns Hopkins University and Medicine, McCormick & Company, T.Rowe Price, Exelon/Constellation/BGE, CareFirst, UPS and many others right here in central Maryland uwcm.org/thanks. We couldn’t do our work without you.
