Elizabeth’s Story: A Fresh Start in Carroll County

Date: August 13, 2015

Any working parent can relate to the struggle of finding childcare that’s both high quality and affordable. Elizabeth’s gratitude toward United Way of Central Maryland partner Carroll Child Care Centers for meeting both of those criteria is immeasurable. After fleeing an abusive marriage, Elizabeth and her son Dylan had to start a new life far from their home, friends and family. On her limited budget, childcare options that provided a nurturing, engaging environment for Dylan seemed non-existent. With funding from United Way, Carroll Child Care Centers is able to offer reduced tuitions and fees so that families like Elizabeth’s don’t have to sacrifice quality care. Dylan is now thriving in his new learning environment, while Elizabeth is able to work and heal from the trauma she experienced.
