Family stability is the heart of our work. United Way is committed to helping families facing poverty obtain access to housing, healthy, affordable food and healthcare, employment and a quality education. For more than 90 years we have worked with leading health and human service providers across our region and have identified the most effective strategies to improve the most lives.
Families are the fastest growing homeless group. We use a nationally recognized model to prevent family homelessness in targeted neighborhoods and rapidly rehouse others who have already become homeless. Case managers work with families individually to build financial security and self-sufficiency.
In our fourth year of the Access to Healthy Food Initiative, we are improving the quantity and quality of meals provided. Moving forward we also will be taking a closer look at the needs and gaps in our communities to address broader health issues.
United Way of Central Maryland is a lead organizer of Project Homeless Connect, an annual resource fair that provides comprehensive services including housing, food, health care, dental, employment, legal and hygiene services for local people facing homelessness.
For more than 90 years, United Way of Central Maryland has been improving lives in the communities it serves: Anne Arundel County, Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Carroll County, Harford County and Howard County, Maryland.
