United Way of Central Maryland Receives $50,000 Donation from Stanley Black & Decker to Help With COVID-19 Recovery and Rebuilding Efforts

May 10, 2021

BALTIMORE (July 10 , 2020) – United Way of Central Maryland today announced it received a $50,000 donation from Stanley Black & Decker for the non-profit’s COVID-19 Community Fund to support people and organizations in need during the pandemic.

United Way’s COVID-19 Community Fund was established to provide what’s needed, where it’s needed – for families and individuals, healthcare workers and first responders, and other nonprofits strained by the impact of the pandemic. As of July 10, UWCM has distributed over $1 million in COVID-19-related grants to more than different organizations, directly or through collaboratives.

For 95 years, United Way has been a lifeline for those in need. United Way of Central Maryland continues to be here to meet the immediate needs and to provide support to the ongoing, long-term needs we see from the pandemic,” said Franklyn Baker, President and CEO, United Way of Central Maryland. “Stanley Black & Decker’s contribution will fuel our work as we push forward and continue to evolve our approach as we help our region recover and rebuild and is a testament to their commitment to strengthening our community during these uncertain times.”

“Stanley Black & Decker is immensely proud of our partnership with United Way of Central Maryland, which is just one part of our company-wide efforts to empower the front lines in the fight against COVID-19,” said Stanley Black & Decker Director of Public Affairs, Abigail Dreher. “True to our purpose – For Those Who Make The World – we are committed to doing our part by helping communities and governments build a better world in the wake of this pandemic.”

In addition to this donation, Stanley Black & Decker is supporting COVID-19 response efforts in other critical ways. The company’s tools and storage units, engineered fasteners and security solutions are used by the essential health care, first responder, construction, maintenance, transportation, government and medical manufacturing workers.

Stanley Black & Decker is developing 3D face shield printing, innovations in mask technology, and fasteners and battery technology for medical products such as respirators.

United Way of Central Maryland promotes equity, creates opportunity, and improves lives by increasing access to basic needs such as health, housing, employment, and education. Learn more at
