Thanks to 2,000 volunteers and 130+ providers, Project Homeless Connect 2015 serves record number

On Thursday, September 24, United Way of Central Maryland brought together more than 130 partners and an estimated 2,000 volunteers to aid those experiencing homelessness in Baltimore City and the surrounding area at the fourth annual Project Homeless Connect.

A record number of people were served this year. More than 2,000 of our neighbors experiencing homelessness received life-changing services.

Each volunteer guide was matched one-on-one with a homeless adult or family to help them access more than 150 services available, ranging from dental care, medical screenings, housing information and employment programs to haircuts, legal services, identification cards and more.

Approximately 300 attendees received on-the-spot dental care, and more than 200 people received comprehensive vision services. Baltimore’s Project Homeless Connect is one of the largest resource fairs for the homeless in the country and has been replicated in more than 300 cities.
