Walden University: Empowering others through education.

With great power comes great responsibility. Knowledge—education—is power. It’s a power that changes and enlightens each person with a ripple effect that impacts communities and nations—and can even change the world. As Walden’s creed says, “A higher degree. A higher purpose.” Many of Walden’s more than 100,000 graduates go on to make a positive difference in their communities. Read their success stories: www.WaldenU.edu/magazine.

At United Way of Central Maryland, we believe in the power of education. We believe education is a core building block to a better life for all people—to creating opportunities for a bright future. Graduating takes drive, tenacity, and a lot of hard work. Congratulations to every Walden graduate on reaching this momentous milestone. And congratulations to the families—the proud parents, grandparents, friends, and many others who helped make this day possible. We all look forward to big things ahead, and to a better world for all of us.

And that’s what Walden is all about: leveraging education for the greater good. As part of its commitment to social change, Walden University is a steadfast United Way supporter through its workplace campaign, staff volunteers, annual Global Days of Service, and Refer a Friend initiative. Through Refer a Friend, not only is Walden encouraging empowerment and professional development, but with every referral, Walden makes a donation to United Way to support nonprofit organizations across the U.S. and help change the odds for individuals and families in need through education, housing and income, and workforce development. Last year, Walden donated $10,000. Go to www.WaldenU.edu/refer to refer a colleague, friend or family member, and join us in celebrating Walden’s newest graduates.
